Guest teachers: Cory Betts and Marla Hansen
CORY BETTS
Born & raised in Sacramento, California. Cory received his dance training from the Sacramento Ballet & Northern California Dance Conservatory. Cory has performed all over the world, including the Jacobs Pillow Summer Festival, and touring throughout Austria, Italy, & Germany with the Young! Tanzsommer performance group.
Cory was a dancer with Eugene Ballet from 2013-2020, where he was featured in productions including Amy Seiwert’s “White Noise”, Val Caniparoli’s “Tutto Ecetto Il Lavandino”, & Stephanie Martinez’s “Wandering On”. Cory danced the roles of Puck in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” & Nick Carraway in “The Great Gatsby” both choreographed by Toni Pimble.Now represented by The Movement Talent Agency, and based in New York City. Cory is pursuing a career in Theatre. He also works as an Instructor & Competition Adjudicator.
MARLA HANSEN
Marla and her husband, Alfred Hansen, founded Idaho Dance Theatre in 1989. Since that time, she has choreographed over 70 ballets for IDT. Marla has collaborated many times with other artists including composers Eric Sandmeyer, David Allen Earnest, Jim Cockey and Eric Alexander, pianists Del Parkinson, and Mark Hansen, soprano Laura Rushing Raynes, to name a few. Choreography for organizations include Opera Idaho, Idaho Shakespeare Festival, Boise Philharmonic Brass Quintet etc. An acclaimed teacher, Marla was named the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, “Dance Educator of the Year”. Marla is also a Professor Emeritus at Boise State University in the Department of Theatre Arts where she directed the dance program and choreographed the Theatre Dept musicals and productions for over 30 years.
